pokhara

“Pokhara area shows the greatest contrast in landscape. Nowhere in the world can the highest mountains reaching 8,000 meters level be admired from such small distance and from the tropical low land without any intermediate mountain ranges. Pokhara is certainly one of the most extraordinary and beautiful place in the world”- Toni Hagen, a Swiss geologist

Seti river george, Davi’s fall, Bats and other caves, Barahi/ Bindabashini temples and a collection of world class museums (Gurkha, Annapurna, Mountain) are the most visited places in Pokhara. A recently completed World Peace Pagoda located on a hill top above Fewa lake is not only a symbol of peace, but people drive and walk up to this vantage point to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges along side the lake and the city of Pokhara. The soil formation of Pokhara valley is such that the Seti river that passes     through the city forms deep gorges and disappears at places like Patal Ganga. The fascinating Davi’s fall, caves and the boat trip to Barahi temple on the middle of Fewa lake are enchanting experiences. Many visitors prefer to wander around the Lake side market.

Pokhara is the capital of adventure air sports like ultra-light power gliders, paragliding in tandem flights for a bird’s eye view of the city and the Annapurna Himalaya, and the most popular treks to the heartland of the famous Gurkhas on the foothills of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himals. Trip to Muktinath also starts from Pokhara by helicopter or flight to Jomsom, by bus/ jeep or walking a week in your own pace.

“You have not seen Nepal if you have not been to Pokhara. Pokhara is like a hanging garden.  As tourists say, it is one of the paradises on earth, most beautiful spot in the Himalayas”.

Lake Fewa reflects the Annapurna Himalayan range and offer boating pleasures in the midst of nature
